A FEW SELECT PROJECTS

8 Minutes to Downtown

8 Minutes to Downtown

A tv show concept that blends a few key areas of our humor to create an entertaining intersection where there's a certain level of absurdity but also meaningful moments. Designed to make the simplest of plots entertaining and to be able to watch each episode independent of each other.

Logline - A late-20's bromance is sharing a house in Detroit and trying to navigate their transition from their 20's to their 30's in an offbeat, eccentric way alongside their millennial landlord.

[IN PROGRESS] Always Sunny Scroll-Through Website

Always Sunny Scroll-Through Website

This was made alongside the "8 Minutes to Downtown" tv show concept. Our team was looking to learn how to make elaborate scroll animations on websites and saw an opportunity to blend it with another project we were working on. Although there were a handful of places we were drawing the humor from for "8 Minutes",  Always Sunny was definitely one of them.

Staged Divorce Party (Galveston, TX)

Staged Divorce Party (Galveston, TX)

Gathered around a dozen people to stay the weekend at a vacation rental in Galveston and organized an engaging itinerary for the weekend. Felt in a similar mindset to Nathan Fielder's work.

Friday

Staged a divorce party at the local Denny's - The group dressed in formal attire and we went ahead of time to decorate our section with divorce banners, posters, etc.

Took turns saying the things we disliked the most about an imaginary ex-wife. Afterwards we had an actress jump out of a large birthday box and pretend to be the host's secret ex-wife. We had a couple hours of training ahead of the event to align with the actress on who she would know at the party vs. not. Talk track was that the woman was the host's sugar mama back in college and married for tax purposes for a brief period of time. Had multiple people come up to the host discretely to ask if the backstory was real.

Saturday

Organized a three-round team event that started off with this orientation video (TODO: need to link), alongside a scored quiz.

1) "Wet Socks" scavenger hunt - Pictures of wet socks were hidden around the house and the teams had to decipher clues attached to them to figure out the winning passcode.

2) Shrek sitcom w/live laugh track (link to script) - We drafted a script that could engage the whole group and did a live reading of it. Awards were given out for most believable fairytale creature.

3) Flo-Rida Saturdays (link to pamphlet) - We made pamphlets for "Flo-Rida" awareness and each team had to hand them out and get signatures from locals to express support in the initiative. The initiative was to get enough signatures to erect a statue of "Flo-Rida" on the Galveston pier.

At the awards ceremony - everyone gathered at the house. In the living room was the large gift box from Denny's - and we had the "ex-wife" actress jump out again and surprise the group to announce the awards.

Little Stable Boy

Little Stable Boy

We went through a phase where we thought it would be entertaining to try to be social media influencers for horse brands. There was one brand that reached out to sponsor us but then later realized they were just trying to get us to send them money first and we wouldn't even get free horse products.

We made this as a response to that situation, and sent the finished product back over to them to express how we felt about the situation.

This one explored our musical side of creativity - it was designed to sound like a pop punk summer jam (like Blink 182, etc.) but have it be dedicated to horse riding.

Here was also one of the creatives made for the project (link to artwork).

Wildlife Documentaries

Wildlife Documentaries

Meant to feel like a fever dream, these were fun edits of our reactions to wildlife videos overlaid with whatever we felt like cutting into the final videos. More along the lines of a late night Adult Swim short. Created six mini-episodes.

Wet Socks

Wet Socks

As you may have noticed, this website has a fake store to purchase "Wet Socks". This began as a funded project to create a company & invest marketing dollars to sell a ridiculous product. We later turned it into a platform to host our blog posts as well as a home for a few of our other projects.

Mock Graduation Video

Mock Graduation Video

More of a smaller scale social experiment - we decided to give a voiceover to a random high school graduation on YouTube as if it were our high school, then we posted it in our town's Facebook group to see what their reaction would be.

Surprisingly roughly half of the people didn't even notice it was a different school, but a few people noticed and responded.
